Early Access Playtest!
Makers!
Planning to release Early Access in a couple of weeks. In order to polish the released version, I’m conducting a small scale playtest session.
How will the playtest work?
There aren’t many spots left. If you’d like to participate, this is how it’ll work:
- It’ll use The Maker Way Playtest app on Steam
- Join our server on Discord and DM me to receive a key
- My goal is to use the next ~7 days to polish and clean bugs
- If you playtest, please don’t publicly share screenshots/streams until launch
So, what changed from Demo?
If you played the demo you should know that the initial tutorial is similar.
However, the game beyond is very different. Listing every change would be too much so let me focus on these 6 key changes:
- Full Map - the entire map is populated with dozens of points of interest. There’s also a change to topography, road system and more.
- New Parts - added the following: small wheel, small steering hinge, data hacking tool, mobile data drives, helium ascender, helium tank, core extractor (crane) and drone propeller.
- Two New Enemies - a Parallel collector who races you to obtain resources and stores them in a Collection Center and a DTHP Turret at road checkpoints. There are several enemies of each kind patrolling strategic locations on the map.
- Driving Physics - different wheels have different driving profiles with less or more offroad traction. There’s now a difference between driving on roads and on sand.
- Data Collection - two new ways to collect data. One by hacking data terminals in data centers & the other one by using a heavy crane to lift data cores from core cradles and carry them to your base.
- Server Cooling - a new game mechanic. Advanced servers require cooling using a dedicated cooling unit. A data screen shows you the state of temperature inside structures. Servers that heat up cannot store new data.
Like I said there’s a LOT more (new UI, new menus, new Archive Grade screen etc.).
Hope you enjoy this version. If you end up playtesting, please DM me bugs, ideas and general feedback.
